Bimbibap @ Han Ah Reum Mart (Northen Blvd)

There are two Han Ah Reum marts in Flushing, Queens. We ordered a take-out today at the second supermarket after a strenuous workout.  Price : Priced at $7, you can have a decent meal for one or two.  Quality : The whole meal was indeed value for money. With generous portion of hot pepper sauce, the steamed rice and vegetables were so tasty. The fishcake-like soup was also delicious. As for the lettuce kimchi, it was good too. Overall, it was delicious! The crux of this meal was that it was vegetarian. There were different kinds of vegetables like lettuce, bean sprouts, etc. I think it would be great for those who go on diets. Must try! Store layout : The restaurant is part of Han Ah Reum Restaurant. Located in the supermarket, the restaurant is a simple set up. You have to make payment at the cashier and then hand the order to the staff located at the counter. A simple plank of wood hammered along the walls to serve as table with bar stool-like chairs. ...

Deok Mandoo Kook (Rice cake stew with dumplings) @ Namoodol Restaurant

After two failed attempts at Namoodol Restaurant , I decided to try noodles this time round.  Price : Value for money for a decent meal. Quality : The meal was provided with servings of two different kinds of kimchi – lettuce kim chi and cucumber kim chi. Both of them were superb. It whipped up your appetite. However, the broth was a letdown as it tasted a little bland. I wonder if it was made from the rice cake. The rice cake was ready-made and lacked texture. The dumplings however tasted the best. The meat was marinated with pepper and I thought I saw some carrots as well. I will miss this one, though. Store layout : A simple layout with one row of tables for customers and the other for the kitchen, located at Han Ah Reum Mart, Union Street. You may have to enter from the supermarket. The walls are painted with warm colors and you feel very comfortable having your meal there. However, at the end of the restaurant, there may be boxes that may be a little hazardous. Y...

Beef Dosilock (Lunch box with marinated beef) @ Namoodol Restaurant

After the great find the day before at Namoodol Restaurant , I decided to try a different dish. This time is beef dosilock, that is, lunch box with marinated beef. Price : Value for money for one decent meal. Quality : The meal comprised of a lunch box and a bowl of lettuce and bean sprout soup. In the lunch box, there was a serving of kim chi, steamed rice and grilled marinated beef. The beef was freshly grilled. The taste was super duper yummy! Each bite was filled with surprise and anticipation. Anticipating taking another bite of it. Must try! Store layout : A simple layout with one row of tables for customers and the other for the kitchen, located at Han Ah Reum Mart, Union Street. You may have to enter from the supermarket. Bimbibap @ Namoodol Restaurant

Found a new food court at Han Ah Reum Mart at Union Street – Namoodol Restaurant . It is a simple and cheap place to have a meal. Price : Priced at $6. I had a huge portion of rice and generous portion of vegetables – a heavy meal to last you throughout the day. I merely ordered by giving the numbers listed in the picture menu to the Korean staff. Not forgetting that the meal includes the two different kim chi and a bowl of delicious vegetable soup. Quality : The defined pearly-white steamed rice mixed with hot pepper sauce and greens is a great option for those who do not want to take meat. I decided to go vegetarian today. The hot pepper sauce mixed with steamed rice and vegetables were delicious when I tried it. I was not able to stop and finished the whole bowl of steamed rice instead of stopping at half a bowl. Both kim chi were fantastic. I love them, as they are crunchy and delicious. As for the soup, I was surprised that a mere vegetable soup with lettuce and bean ...

Sweet Red Bean Fish @ Han Ah Reum Mart (Union Street)

I was shopping at Han Ah Reum Mart at Union Street when I stumbled upon a small snack outlet in the supermarket. The tempting and delicious aroma spread throughout the supermarket but you cannot help but follow the smell to the simple booth at the far end of the supermarket. Price : Value for money. Five pieces at at $4. Quality : A simple snack made from flour and moist red bean paste will be something I love each time I visit H-Mart. The five pieces of red bean fishes were shared between the two of us. Store layout : A simple booth that sells various pastries. But the sweet red bean pastry aroma caught my senses and got me addicted to it.  "You will love it."
